What paperwork do I need to send in?
Check our website for the contestant paperwork. The miss and teen pages on the website lists directions for all necessary paperwork. After reading all the directions, if you still have questions please contact us.
When is the application deadline?
The deadline for all paperwork is 30 days before the competition date.
Can i wear any fitness attire for the fitness competition?
No, red Rebel Wear is required for the fitness competition.
What if I don’t have a Community Service initiative (CSI)?
The Community Service Initiative is a community service or social issue that you want to bring awareness to. This will be something you want to dedicate your time to as Miss Northern Suburbs/Lake County and potentially as Miss Illinois and Miss America. We tell our judges at the local level that it is ok if you don’t have a CSI that you have been working for years. Just make sure you have a well thought out plan as to what you will be doing as Miss Northern Suburbs/Lake County.
What type of talent can I perform?
We have seen various talents grace the stage at various Miss America preliminaries. There have been dancers, singers, instrumentalists, martial artists, hula dancers, speed painters, monologues, fitness routines and many more. You can be creative. Find something that you can do very well for 90 seconds. Only limitations are no fire, no sharp or projectile weaponry, no live animals and no one except the contestant may appear on stage.
Is there a time limit for talent?
Yes, the time limit is 90 seconds.
Do I need to provide an ad for the program book?
We do ask that each candidate find someone to purchase an ad for the program book. Program book ads help us pay for various items and fees to run the competition. An award will be given on stage to the contestant with the most program book ad sales.
Do I need a professional headshot photo?
Professional headshot photos are not required but are preferred. Our official photographer is Fedler Photographic Studios. Please visit their website at www.fedlerphotographicstudio.com. The photo will be used in the program book and a low-quality photo does not print very well. Please have the photo already cropped to show yourself from the shoulders up before sending.
